Belait – To gain feedback and views from parents and school teachers on the Corruption Prevention Education (CPE) programme implemented in schools, a dialogue organised by the Anti-Corruption Bureau was held at the Panaga Primary School in Seria yesterday.
More than 100 teachers and PTA committee members from the Belait District understanding the dialogue with the aim of developing understanding of the CPE Programme.
The Acting Assistant Director of the Anti-Corruption Bureau Awang Haji Abd Raub bin Hj Mohd Yassin in his welcoming remarks said the CPE programme is a joint collaboration with the Anti-Corruption Bureau and Curriculum Education Development Department since 2005 where various short and long-term programmes are planned as an early step to educate students about the importance of corruption prevention.
“Several plans which have materialised included the publishing of CPE books based on the theme towards honesty, integrity and sincerity among others.
“And apart from that, a music CD based on the programme has also been released in English and Malay together with the CPE Interactive Learning through computer. All these have been implemented in schools throughout the nation starting 2006 and the publishing of related educational books will be carried out in various phases until 2011,” he said.
Last year, the CPE programme has also been applied into the learning subjects for UBD students by joining forces with the Brunei Academic Education department to diversify the learning programmes through lectures, dialogue, seminar and others.
With the incorporation of CPE programme into the school curriculum, it would boost the students’ knowledge on the dangers of corruption, Haji Raub said.
Prior to the dialogue, a video presentation towards common understanding of corruption in the country was shown.
A briefing on prevention of corruption followed and it ended with a dialogue between parents, teachers and the selected panels.
The CPE programme was also an effort to encourage all to practise good morals and create awareness among population and residents in the nation on the dangers and risks of corruption.
Similar dialogues have been carried out at schools in other districts and Belait was the last district to host the event. -
