Syafiq Affendy (Borneo Bulletin)
A 40-TIME Khatam Al-Quran, organised by the Ministry of Religious Affairs to seek protection from Allah the Almighty from Influenza A (H1N1), began yesterday at the Jame Asr Hassanil Bolkiah Mosque in Kampong Kiarong.
The 20-day ceremony, organised through the ministry’s Mosque Affairs Department, is joined by 30 mosque officials, who will read two juzuk per day for 20 days.
Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Jawatan Luar Pekerma Raja Dato Seri Utama Dr Ustaz Haji Awang Mohd Zain bin Haji Serudin and Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin were present at yesterday’s event.
The ceremony is also being held at mosques throughout the country, as well as the Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Tahfiz Al-Quran Institute, while special sunnat hajat prayers will be held after Maghrib prayers and before Friday prayers.
