A BRUNEIAN man pleaded not guilty to three counts of cheating before the Bandar Seri Begawan Magistrate’s Court Tuesday.
Zulhilmi Hj Ahmad, 32, first denied abetting a woman, in the commission of the offence of cheating, by instigating her to falsely inform a man that he could deliver two cars — Lexus GS300 and Lexus RX300 — at the price of $15,000 and thereby dishonestly induce the man and deceived him to deliver cash amounting to $15,000.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the second charge of abetting with the same woman by instigating her to convince a woman that he could deliver a BMW X5 for $12,000 and deceived the ‘buyer’ to deliver the amount.
The 32-year-old man also pleaded not guilty to the third charge of abetting with the same woman again by instigating her to convince another woman that he could deliver a Lexus GS300 for $7,000, thereby deceiving the woman to deliver the asking price.
All the offences are punishable under Section 420 of the Penal Code read with Section 109 of the Penal Code, Chapter 22.
According to Deputy Public Prosecutor Christopher Ng all the offences were allegedly committed sometime between January and May 2004.
The case will be further heard again on August 4 at 10.30am.
