SM Sarjana School is once again honoured by an invitation from the China’s Office of Chinese Language Council International to send students to the Chinese Bridge Summer Camp 2009 in Chongqing, China, which is currently ongoing until Aug 16 this year.
About 500 students from Asean countries are expected to attend this annual summer event aimed at promoting the learning of Mandarin Chinese and appreciation of the Chinese culture.
The two-week immersion programme will include Mandarin classes, cultural programmes such as folk dances, local food tasting, viewing of Chinese paintings and embroideries, among others, as well as visits to places of interest in Chongqing.
Four secondary students from the school’s Advanced Mandarin class, comprising Rosemary Vong Jia Jing, Emily Teo Yii Pei, Tan Hui Jie and Puah Chen Yee, as well as supervising teacher Eric Yang were ecstatic to be a part of the team to attend the camp.
They were sent off at the airport for their flight to Guangzhou, before flying off to Chongqing the next day, by their family members, officers of the SM Sarjana management team and Mr Li Qiang, Chief of Political Section, the People’s Republic of China Embassy.
