THE 2009 APEC Intellectual Property (IP) Information Facilitator Offline training course was held in Daejeon, Republic of Korea from August 24 – 28, 2009.
It drew the participation of some 40 trainees from 21 APEC member economies including Brunei Darussalam.
Representing the Sultanate were UBD Assistant Vice-Chancellor, Dr Zohrah Hj Sulaiman and Dean of Postgraduate Studies and Research Associate Professor, Dr Tan Kha Sheng.
Prior to the training in Daejeon, about 600 trainees from APEC countries took part in an online IP course. The number was reduced to 40 after a performance evaluation, comprising of on-line exam and study progress.
IP represents creations of the intellect, he it products or services, inventions or discoveries. It can be presented in many forms: brands, software, consumer goods, content, art, music, film and found in virtually any industry.
Intellectual property rights (I PR) are privileges given to the owners of works or creators. It comprises patents , industrial design, trademark and copyright.
