Brunei paddlers ready for KK test

ELEVEN paddlers from the Brunei Amateur Table Tennis Association (BATTA) will leave for Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, today to compete in the 11th Borneo Table Tennis Commercial Cup.

The tournament, to be held from Oct 17-18 at the Papar Chinese Middle School in Beaufort, Papar, in Sabah, will see the Brunei teams compete in the Premier category.

Each team will have to play five singles and two doubles games at the tournament.

Anthony Liew, the secretary-general of BATTA, had said that he was not expecting any medal from Sabah but felt that it would be a good experience for the local players.

BATTA A are made up of Hamdillah Hj Muhammad, Hussaini Hj Hassan, Liew Bing Vei, Mohd Hanifah Hj Bungsu and Mohd Khairuddin Abd Manaf while team captain Hj Hamdi Hj Abd Hamid, Hj Irwan Mashadi Hj Mashud, Hj Rusli Md Yussof, Hj Said Sheikh Hj Yahya, Mohd Faridh Hizamry Mohd Noor and Omar Nassir will represent the country as BATTA B.

The competition is organised by the Papar Table Tennis Association in consultation with the Sabah Table Tennis Association.

A total of 12 teams will battle it out for top honours.
