Royal Families consented to attend luncheon

His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Muizzaddin Waddaulah, the Sultan and Yang Di-pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, Her Majesty Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha and Her Royal Highness Pengiran Isteri Azrinaz Mazhar have consented to attend an official luncheon given by President Dmitry Medvedev of Russia and First Lady, Svetlana Medvedeva. The function took place at the Grand Kremlin Palace in Moscow.

Also present were His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Her Royal Highness Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah binti Pengiran Salleh Ab. Rahaman, His Royal Highness Prince Hji Abdul Azim, His Royal Highness Prince Abd Malik, His Royal Highness Prince Abdul Mateen and Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Amal Umi Kalthum Al-Islam.

In his welcoming speech, the Russian President Dmitry Medvedev welcomed the arrival of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang DiPertuan of Brunei Darussalam to the Russian Federation and hoped the cooperative ties between both nations would be enhanced and maintained.

His Majesty in a titah expressed appreciation to His Excellency and the government of Russia for the welcoming showed to His Majesty and delegation. His Majesty expressed happiness at the establishment of Russia’s embassy in Bandar Seri Begawan. It shows a strengthened relationship between the two nations. His Majesty hoped that close cooperation between Brunei and Russia would be maintained and welcomed Russia to chair next year’s ASEAN regional forum. Relations between Brunei Darussalam and Russia established nineteen years ago are based on the principles of peaceful co-existence as well as on the principles stipulated in the United Nations’ Charter.
