Students receive khatam al-Quran certificates

EIGHTEEN primary six students from Awang Semaun Religious School received their khatam al-Quran certificates in a ceremony held at the school’s multipurpose hall, yesterday afternoon.

The guest of honour was the unit head for Religious Schools, Islamic Education Department, Sheikh Haji Abdul Khalid bin Sheikh Haji Yahya, who also presented the certificates to the students.

The event opened with a mass surah al-fatihah recital headed by the guest of honour followed with the recital of surahs by participants as well as a takhtim by female students and a Doa Khatam by khatam participant, Awang Md Daniel bin Haji Abdullah.

The guest of honour led the sprinkhng of scented flowers accompanied by parents and guardians of the students.

To bless the ceremony, a doa selamat was read by Cikgu Awangku Jaya Shah Yusraini bin Pengiran Zaini.
