SMS donation drive for relief fund

THE public now have an easy way to donate to the Indonesia Earthquake and Philippines Typhoon Humanitarian Fund set up on October 10, 2009.

The SMS Brunei Prihatin for Indonesia Earthquake and Philippines Typhoon Humanitarian Fund was launched at the Coffee House Rizqun, The Mall in Gadong yesterday by Pehin Orang Kaya Setia Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Dr Awg Hj Ahmad bin Hj Jumat, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, and Pehin Jawatan Luar Perkerma Raja Dato Seri Utama Dr Ustaz Hj Awg Mohd Zain bin Hj Serudin, Minister of Religious Affairs, as joint chairmen of the event.

Also present were Pehin Jawatan Dalam Seri Maharaja Dato Seri Utama Dr Hj Awg Mohd Jamil Al- Sufri, Head of History Centre, Dato Paduka Hj Jemat bin Haji Ampal, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, Awang Haji Md Mandi bin Pehin Orang Kaya Di-gadong Seri Diraja Dato Laila Utama Hj Abdul Rahman, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Hj Yakop bin Hj Md Yusof, Board Director of DST Group and Hjh Noorul Bayinah binti Hj Kassim, Senior Manager of b.mobile Corporate Affairs, Haji Marsad bin Hj Ismail, Corporate Development Officer.

The Department of Community Development, Radio Television Brunei, DST Group and b.mobile Communication Sdn Bhd are jointly organising the SMS Brunei Prihatin project.

A video clip presentation on the Indonesian earthquake and Philippine typhoon was held, followed by mass sending of donations via SMS by those who were present at the launching ceremony. The SMS Brunei Prihatin project will end on November 30, 2009. To make a donation, type Bantu (without space) and the sum of money such as 1,5,10,15 or 20 and send it to 38111 for DST customers and also b.mobile or via WAP portal.
