THE first respondent to a crime scene has an important task of assessing the situation, securing the crime scene, identifying who are the witnesses or suspects as well as administer first aid if victims have injuries.

To raise the quality and knowledge of being the first respondent, some 19 Royal Brunei Police personnel yesterday afternoon completed a nine-day, second series course on first respondent.

SM530 Join bin Kadah, the supervisor of the course in his welcoming remark highlighted, “During the course, the participants heard various briefings from the many sections within the police force. The briefings included structure and organisation of police, briefing from the traffic control and investigation department, special squad, weapons unit, logistic department as well as topics of first aid and the method of double lock and inspection of a suspect’s vehicle.

“From the course, the participants have managed to increase their fitness training in a short time during biking and running. While from the briefing, the participants have managed to gain invaluable knowledge from each of the various agencies. It is hoped that the participants will make good use of the knowledge obtained in carrying out their daily duties. ”

Meanwhile L/Cpl 2775 Hj Mohd Shamri bin hj Abdullah, on behalf of all the participants, lauded the importance of the courses in helping police personnel to be better equipped when being the first respondent to the scene.
The guest of honour who presented the certificates to the participants was Superintendent Azahari Bin Hj Awang Besar, the Acting Commandant of Police Training Centre. Also present were other senior police officers.
