ABOUT 100 villagers of Kg Lorong Tiga Selatan, Mukim Seria, Belait District voted for their new village leader in an election held at the multipurpose hall of Sekolah PSN Pg Mohd Yusof yesterday morning.
The voters had to make their choice between two candidates – 52-year-old Awg Haji Mohd Ali bin Dullah and 53-year-old Awg Haji Sadin bin Haji Ibrahim – to replace the former village leader who passed away sometime in January 2004.
Present as the guest of honour at the election was Haji Jamain bin Momin, Belait District Officer.
In his welcoming remarks, he urged residents to elect wisely and make correct assessment based on their knowledge of the candidate’s background, capabilities and leadership skills.
He said every village leader must sacrifice their time and resources to perform their duties and responsibilities as entrusted to them.
Kampong Lorong Tiga Selatan Seria is one of the two villages under the Mukim and has a total of 544 registered residents and four villages under it namely Kg STKRJ Lorong Tiga Selatan, Kg Lorong Tiga Selatan, Jalan Bolkiah and Kampong Baru areas.
