KHATAM al-Quran ceremony were held yesterday for 69 students comprising 64 students from the Pengiran Muda Mohammad Bolkiah Religious School, three students from the Puni Religious School, one student from the Sultan Hasyim BatuApoi Religious School and one student from the Negalang Religious School.
The guests of honour at the event were Temburong District Officer Awang Metussin bin Orang Kaya Sura Haji Tuba and spouse.
The ceremony began with the recital of surah al-fatihah led by the guest of honour,

followed by the recital of selected surahs by the students.
Doa takhtim was read by the female religious teachers and students and the doa khatam was read by one of the male student participants. The event was further enlivened with Marhaban song performed by the students and religious teachers led by Ustaz Haji Abd Ajis bin Haji Anaf.
The guests of honour led the parents in the sprinkling of “bunga rampai” to the khatam participants.
The doa selamat was read by Ustaz Haji Rozaiman bin Haji Abdul Rahman.
The event was one of the Religious Studies Department, Ministry of Religious Affairs annual activities, which was aimed at encouraging the students to read the Quran daily.
