IN CONJUNCTION with the upcoming Teacher’s Day celebrations, the Ministry of Education held a tahlil yesterday for the late Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien and Al-Marhumah Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Dam it at the Royal Mausoleum.
This year, the celebration will be held on Thursday, November 5 at the International Convention Centre (ICC), Berakas.
A congregation of about 400 people from the Ministry of Education was led by Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Lela Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Rahman bin Dato Setia Haji Mohamed Taib, the Minister of Education.
Teacher’s Day is celebrated annually in the Sultanate on September 23 since 1971, coinciding with the birth date of Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar Ali Saifuddien Sa’adaul Khairi Waddien to remember the contribution he made to education.
This year, the date of the celebration was pushed back due to the outbreak of H1N1.
Leading the recital of the surah yassin and tahlil was Pg Haji Amiruddin Pg Hj Tejuddin, an officer from the
Department of Mosque Affairs.
The Ministry of Education will be holding mass maghrib prayers and a thanksgiving doa today at the Masj id Universiti of University of Brunei Darussalam (UBD) at 5.30pm in conjunction with the upcoming Teacher’s Day event.
