THE chairman of Emergency Assistance Bureau (EAB) of Persatuan Bekas Perajurit (PBP) Brunei Darussalam said yesterday that they will be leaving for Padang, Sumatra, Indonesia this week to hand over donations to the recent earthquake victims.
Major (Rtd) Hj Karim Sapar said he will be leading three members to Indonesia anytime this week after all glitches have been ironed out.
“We will be handing over donations from our members amounting to around 60 boxes of clothing and dried food. We will also be handing over cash donations from our members,” he said.
He added that the donations are aimed at helping to lessen the sufferings of the victims and as a show of compassion for the victims during these difficult times.
The EAB was formed last month to coordinate support operations in times of national emergency and disaster that can be extended to other countries.
The President of PBP Pehin Datu Indera Negara Lt Col (Rtd) Dato Paduka Hj Mohd Ariffin bin Dato Paduka Hj Abd Wahab is the bureau’s adviser, while Major (Rtd) Hj Karim Sapar is the Chairman and Datin Hjh Norazni Hj Ahmed Yunos is the Vice-Chairman.
