JUNAIDI bin Hj HasIn and family escaped unscathed after strong winds tore off part of the roofing to their Kg Batu Marang home Thursday night.
The sudden storm and accompanying winds packed quite a punch on the home made out of wood and Spandex roofing sheets, subsequently leaving the home exposed to the strong rain.
Shortly after, the Fire and Rescue Department received a distress call. Five firefighters from the Muara Fire Station (led by DSO Mohammad bin Salleh) arrived at the scene to provide assistance
With the help of canvas sheets, the fire fighters were able to temporarily cover up the exposed area.
Also present at the scene was Senior Fire Rescue Officer Haji Sophian bin Tahir.
The initial estimated cost of damages is $500.
