BRUNEI Darussalam’s wushu duo of Lee Ying Shi and Faustina Woo Wei Sii earned another bronze medal for the country when they came in third in the wushu team weapons event with a total score of 9.40 at the 3rd Asian Indoor Games in Hanoi yesterday
With the bronze medal, Brunei Darussalam has a total of one silver and six bronze medals in its maiden appearance at the games.
The rest of the medals came from the pencak silat team where the women regu team of Norleyermah Hj Raya, Norleyharyanti Hj Raya and Nurul Aimi Amalina Zanidi won the first silver medal for Brunei.
The other bronze medals came from Hj Md Khairul Bahrin bin Hj Durahman in the men’s Tunggal event, Khuzaiman Ahmad in the men’s category D of 60-65kg, Pg Khairul Bahri Pg All Umar Category F 70-75kg, Freddy Ashrul Choo in men’s category G of 75-80kg and Siti Zuliza Binti Omar in the women category C of 55-60kg.
The chef-de-mission, Dayang Mariam Ulat in an interview said: “The Brunei contingent did very well in its first appearance.”
“I can see that there are vast improvement from the athletes during the competition. I am proud of the wushu team who won its first major medal in an Asian competition..”
