POLICE officers are expected to minimise carelessness and make fewer mistakes in performing their duties, the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) director of the Criminal Investigation Department told officers yesterday.
CID Director ACP Pg Hj Abdul Wahab Pg Hj Omar laid out his clear expectation at the Understanding Criminal Law (Criminal Procedure Code) Certificate Presentation ceremony at the police headquarters in Gadong.
The certificates were awarded to 102 officers who had completed the course, which focused on operations and improving officers’ understanding of criminal law in law enforcement.
Hj Abdul Wahab said that the tri-session six-day course would equip the participants with a better understanding of the Criminal Procedure Code, improve their confidence and efficiency in carrying out law enforcement duties.
He added that this is only the basic course and the RBPF will hold similar courses in the future to ensure continuous education and training for the officers.
The course was divided into three sessions. Session one was on March 23-24, session two on June 15-16, and session three on September 14-15.
Handbooks on criminal acts were also provided to the participants to increase their scope of understanding on what constitutes a criminal offence.
Among the participants were enforcement officers from the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
