Wushu team win bronze at Hanoi Games

THE national wushu team justified their ticket to the 3rd Asian Indoor Games in Vietnam by winning bronze yesterday.

Faustina Woo Wai Sii and Lee Ying Shi finished joint third in the women’s single weapon vs weapon event with a score of 9.40 at the Trinh Hoai Duc Gymnasium in Hanoi.

They were awarded 4.90 for their quality of movement and 4.50 for their overall performance.

They shared the medal with Indonesia’s trio of Cindy Sutanto, Felicia Alveruna Monindra and Irmanto Vania Rosalin who also finished with the same score.

China’s Feng Kaijie, Liu Xiaohui and Zhang Xinyi won gold after scoring 9.82 while Hong Kong’s Kwan Ning Wai, Yuen Ying Ka and Zheng Tianhui took home silver with a score of 9.57.

Eleven countries competed in the wushu events in Vietnam.

The result means that Brunei have now won one silver and six bronze medals, with all the other medals coming from the Sultanate’s pencak silat exponents.The Brunei Times
