A meeting of the executive committee of national level major events in the Islamic calendar and the final Quran reading competition for adults for the year 1431 hijrah was held at the International Convention Centre in Berakas.

The meeting was chaired by the Minister of Religious Affairs, Yang Berhormat Pehin Jawatan Luar Pekerma Raja Dato Seri Utama Doktor Ustaz Haji Awang Mohammad Zain. The meeting among others discussed working papers on Islamic events at the national and state levels and teh final of the natonal level Quran reading competition. The meeting discussed the format of events, dates and venues as well as sideline programs for the year 1431 hijrah. The major events including the new year 1431 hijrah, are Prophet Muhammad’s Birthday, Women’s gathering in conjunction with Prophet Muhammad’s birthday, Israk Mikraj celebration, Nuzul Al-Quran and the final of the national level Quran reading competition for adults. Also present at the meeting were Yang Dipertua Adat Istiadat Negara, Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Lela Cheteria Sahibun Najabah Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul Aziz and the Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin as well as senior government officials.
