THIRTY Tiong Hua community members from the Tutong District turned up for a nationhood briefing themed ‘Monarchy Malay Islam Country’ which was held at the Tutong Information Department yesterday morning.
The briefing was delivered by Information Department Director Dr Haji Muhammad Hadi bin Muhammad Melayong.
Prior to the briefing, the Information Department director noted that the Tiong Hua community was one of the first to settle in the Tutong District, and that their contributions have vastly lent to the Brunei economy.
Dr Haji Muhammad Hadi in his briefing said, “Monarchy Malay Islam is a governing system in Brunei that stresses on ‘Melayu Islam Beraja’ (MIB) as mentioned in the titah in the Brunei Darussalam Declaration of Independence on January 1, 1984.”
He also touched on the vital roles of the Tiong Hua community in using the Malay language, helping in the development of the local economy, and upholding the prosperity and harmony in Brunei.
Among those present at the briefing were officials from the Information Department and Tutong District.
Dr Haji Muhammad Hadi bin Muhammad Melayong presented souvenirs to the participants to conclude the event.
