THE authority had foiled a 57-year-old man’s attempt to smuggle illegal liquor into the country.
Recently, he attempted to brave the custom control post with a total of 958 cans of tiger beer hidden inside his saloon car.
It was a loosing gamble all the way thanks to the vigilant eyes of Customs officers at the Kuala Lurah Control Post.
The man along with the 958 cans of beer including his saloon car were handed over to the enforcement division of the Royal Custom and Excise for further assessment of his illegal activity.
The enforcement division put the value of the smuggled goods at $958.
According to the Custom officers, the contraband goods may have been intended to be sold to the public at a lucrative sum.
He may be prosecuted under the Excise Order 2006.
The Royal Custom and Excise requests the general public to immediately report any smuggling activities through its hotline number 8714422 and 2382422.
