The building named as Sumbangsih Mulia is situated at Lot 77, Beribi industrial centre, Gadong. This modern commercial building was set up with the objective of assisting small and medium traders to supplement their incomes. The building in a 4 acres land is a modern commercial building worth $2 point 4 million.
A total of 35 stalls are allocated to handicrafts traders to sell their products such as kain songket and other woven clothes which are located on the upper and lower floors of Sumbangsih Mulia Building. There are 122 stalls outside the building, allocated to food and vegetable vendors to serve various kinds of food, drinks and vegetables.
Traders are not charged for the rental of the building. They are only required to pay 50 dollars a month for water and electric fan usage and additional 50 dollars for the usage of electric socket. Traders operate their businesses inside the building are charged around $150 a month for the use of air conditioner and water usage.
Sumbangsih Mulia building opens daily from 6 in the morning until 10 in the evening. On Fridays it closes from 12 noon until 1.45 in the afternoon. It is not only functions as a centre for business, it also serves as a catalyst in an effort to put into practice the teachings of Islam. Sumbangsih Mulia also serves the nation’s effort to implement the concept of Malay Islamic Monarchy which emphasises the importance of moral values.
