Eighty-nine Filipino expatriates attended a free training session on the art of healing by utilising the hands and acupressure.
The therapy training, which was conducted by the Philippine Embassy through the Philippine Overseas Labour Office (POLO) was sponsored by the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA).
An overflow of participants filled the multipurpose hall and spilled out into the lobby of the Chancery, where newly learned hands-on techniques were applied.
The participants gained practical knowledge, skills, techniques as well as an enhanced employability option in regards to generating extra income. This training session was a project of the embassy in regards to preparing expatriates for their reintegration in the Philippines.
The company director of Health Express Day Spa, and managing director of Norain Salon based in Kiulap, Visallie de Jesus-Dayto was the resource speaker during the activity, and was assisted by physic-therapists. Co-owner, Eddy Maitimo, also supported the activity for the benefit of overseas Filipino workers (OFW) in Brunei.
Philippine Ambassador to Brunei, Alexander B Yano, said this programme provided OFWs self-employment opportunities and to maximise their potential to become entrepreneurs when they return home to the Philippines.
He advised the participants to avail themselves of the training programmes offered by the embassy to obtain and develop new knowledge and skills.
Participants requested that the embassy hold follow-up hands-on sessions as they welcomed this practical programme.
