Jerudong market is certainly well located. I have always thought that with a little development, the beach and the market could be a major attraction for locals and visitors. The little inlet, sheltered from the currents is an ideal place for the fishing boats to launch and dock. This they do almost every day, returning in the late afternoon with a fresh catch of fish and an appreciative crowd of customers waiting to buy them.
Jerudong market is famous for its fresh fish, crabs and prawns. And Bruneians certainly appreciate their fresh seafood. The fresh fish is not only delicious to eat but it looks good as well. The silver scales flash with all the colours of the rainbow.
There is something about a market that seems to cheer people up. It’s so much more fun to shop at a traditional market than at a modern supermarket. The fishermen and the traders always seem to be in good spirits and so do their customers. You never see shoppers in supermarkets enjoying themselves as much as they do at a traditional market.

The Jerudong market doesn’t just sell fish. It also has a great selection of fresh fruits and vegetables. The vegetable section is just as colourful as the fresh fish section. It offers local produce that can be difficult to get in the supermarkets.

If you enjoy fish and would like a pleasant afternoon at the beach away from the shops, take a drive to Jerudong market. Enjoy the sights, sounds and delicious seafood that it has to offer. And if you are not in any hurry to leave, stay awhile. You may be lucky enough to see a beautiful sunset.
