THE Brunei Darussalam Anti-Doping Committee is currently holding a series of outreach programmes for all athletes taking part in the 3rd Borneo Games to raise awareness about doping in sports, according to Nur Iffah Natasha Sofea Abdullah, the coordinator of an anti-doping programme for the Games.
The programme, which is jointly organised by the Youth & Sports Department in cooperation with the Brunei Darussalam Anti-Doping Committee and supported by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), will primary
use quizzes to raise awareness on doping in sports among targeted groups.
It was learnt that the outreach programme had been organised for Brunei’s athletes, coaches and technical personnel on November 24 and November 25. The programme will run until December 5 for athletes from other participating countries.
From November 30 to December 2, the outreach programme will be held at the Sport Medicine & Research Centre. From December 3 to December 5, it will be held at Indoor Stadium.
Brunei became a member of the WADA in 2003 and a member of the Southeast Asia Regional Anti-Doping Organisation in 2006.
