From the language context, korban or sacrifice means to draw closer, while in technical terms, it means to perform religious obligations or obey Allah the Al-Mighty’s command in order to be closer to Allah the Al-Mighty.

The feast of sacrifice aims to strengthen faith, piety and humbleness of a servant of Allah the Al-Mighty. Performing practises or matters commanded in Islam is profitable to muslims who are promised blessings from Allah the Al-Mighty. According to a religious officer at the Islamic Dakwah Centre, Awang Haji Noralizam bin Haji Aliakbar, in Islam, sacrifice draws you closer to Allah the Al-Mighty, and is rewarded with His blessings. The sacrifice is a test, that as humans, we are not exempt from. Sacrifice will be demanded of mankind as a measure of their faith to Allah the Al-Mighty.
During the Islamic month of Zulhijjah, there are two main religious deeds encouraged in Islam – the Haj pilgrimage and the feast of sacrifice. These two religious deeds require financial sacrifice. Awang Haji Noralizam took a sacrifice of assets as an example. Assets are a form of Allah the Al-Mighty’s test to mankind. Assets or riches are bestowed by Allah the Al-Mighty and the test is to see whether a love of riches and assets surpasses the love towards Allah the Al-Mighty and vice versa.
If the true meaning of sacrifice is absorbed into the hearts of muslims, god willing, peace will exist in the community.
“Pengorbanan itu banyak, terutama dari segi tenaga kitani, pemikiran untuk membangun NBD, perlulah berusaha bersungguh dan dedikasi dalam apa jua lapangan kehidupan kitani.”
“Pengorbanan yang paling besar sebagai individu, sebagai manusia ialah pengorbanan kitani kepada Allah S.W.T. segala apa yang dibuat di muka bumi ini inda lain inda bukan hanyalah kepada Allah S.W.T.”
