The Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports,Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Setia Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Doctor Awang Haji Ahmad bin Haji Jumat was present at the dinner. Also present were members of the organising committee and contingents of this year’s Borneo Games.
According to the Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Borneo Games 2009, Dato Paduka Awang Haji Jemat bin Haji Ampal, the 3rd Borneo Games is a sport festival aimed at further strengthening brotherly and friendly ties while competing towards achieving excellence.
781 athletes will be taking part in nine sports events, namely badminton, lawn bowling, billiard dan snooker, top-spinning, hockey, athletic events, pencak silat, sepak takraw and tennis. Brunei Darussalam is being represented by 198 athletes.
