For 600 years, University of St Andrews has been at the forefront in research excellence.

Founded in 1413, St Andrews is the first University in Scotland and the third oldest in the United Kingdom.
St Andrews has been attracting students from across the UK and internationally for close to six centuries. Nowadays, the University enrolls about 7,000 students with about 20 per cent being international students coming from 75 countries.

Among some of its distinguished Alumnus is His Royal Highness Prince William, heir to the British Crown.
University of St Andrews is located in the town of St Andrews, which is also well known to be the home of golf.

Physically, the University is closely integrated with the town, and it has grown and developed with the town and is now comfortably integrated.

St Andrews is situated about an hour’s drive or about 50 miles north of Edinburgh and 13 miles south of Dundee. Situated on the east coast of Scotland, St Andrews was the centre of medieval Scottish political and religious life, and it still has many fine medieval buildings.

Some of the buildings and colleges on the historic campus dates back to the 14th and 15th century.
Today, St Andrews continues to offer the latest in teaching and research, all within the superbly picturesque and conducive environment.

The University is also consistently rated among the top five universities in the UK as well as being ranked fourth by the Times 2010 Good University Guide.

Each and every of the 21 academic department at St Andrew is highly rated for teaching and research.
In the recent RAE 2008, 94 per cent of St Andrews’ research activity is internationally recognised and 60% is world leading or internationally excellent.

University of St Andrew also provides an invigorating intellectual climate in which staff have close contacts with one another and with colleagues in other UK or overseas universities and research establishments.
All Schools in both the sciences and the arts are actively involved in pushing back the frontiers of knowledge.

“University of St Andrews has a large proportion of students achieving First and Upper Second Class Honours Degree. This is a reflection on both the high standard of teaching and the strong work ethic that exist among staff and students in all departments at St Andrews,” Delon Hon, representative of St Andrews University, said yesterday.
