BRUNEI’S professional basketball team, the Barracudas, will resume its campaign in the Asean Basketball League after a two-week break. They will go against the KL Dragons at home in the National Indoor Stadium tomorrow night.

Both teams met twice in the inaugural season of the league whereby Brunei’s Barracudas won 94-76 in the first meeting in Kuala Lumpur and then KL Dragons avenged the defeat with a 76-73 victory in Brunei’s home turf.

The crowds will witness a new KL Dragons team that has new import players in its squad. The introduction of Chris Daniel Kuete Lonichi and Rudy Lingganay had transformed the losing team into a winning one.

The fresh KL Dragons team was able to stun league leader Singapore Slinger 84-74 in their last game on November 22, thanks to 21 points by Chris Daniel Kuete Lonichi and another 20 points from Rudy Lingganay.

Coach Bong of Barracudas is aware of the revamped KL Dragons, in an interview he said, “The KL Dragons is a good team, they managed to defeat the Singapore Slingers in their last match before coming to Brunei.
“With the win, I am sure they will be bringing in a very high intensity game and we have to match that intensity and energy.”

The coach from the Philippines said, “It will be a really tough game especially after a long break without competitions. I hope my players won’t be rusty tomorrow night.”

In the previous game against the Tigers, the Barracudas was beaten 66-77 after a disappointing field goal percentage. Coach Bong said, “We are working on it, we are continuing practicing our offensive shooting.”
When asked if the KL Dragons match up is a do or die game, he replied, “No, because we still have eight games to play in the league”.

Currently Brunei’s Barracudas is sitting at the last position of the league with two wins and five defeats while KL Dragons is at fourth place with four wins and three losses after the eighth round.

The match up between Barracudas and KL Dragons will tip off at 8pm in the National Indoor Stadium.
