THE Brunei ICT Award (BICTA), organised by MOC, provides a platform to stimulate creativity, innovation and excellence in ICT in Brunei Darussalam, benchmarks Brunei ICT products and solutions, and recognises outstanding achievements in ICT, of students, technopreneurs, SMEs and organisations with operations in Brunei Darussalam. Winners of this annual Awards Programme recently represented Brunei Darussalam at the International Asia Pacific ICT Alliance (APICTA) Awards, a press release stated.
Two schools and two ICT companies from this year’s BICTA winners are nominated to represent Brunei Darussalam to compete in the 9′h APICTA 2009. They are the Kuala Belait Chung Hua Middle School for Secondary Student Project Category; the Maktab Teknik Sultan Saiful Rijal for Tertiary Student Project Category; Teleconsult and GisCom for the Tools and Infrastructure Category and Mars Enterprise for e-Logistics & Supply Chain Management Category.
The APICTA is an international awards programme which is aimed at increasing ICT awareness in the community and assisting in bridging the digital divide. By providing networking and product benchmarking opportunities to ICT innovators and entrepreneurs in the region, the programme is designed to stimulate ICT innovation and creativity, promote economic and trade relations, facilitate technology transfer, and offer business-matching opportunities via exposure to venture capitalists and investors.
