A LOCAL businesswoman, Chen Yin Dji, was yesterday brought before the Bandar Seri Begawan Magistrate’s Court where she was charged under Section 6 (b) of Prevention of Corruption Act (Chapter 131).
Investigations conducted by the Anti-Corruption Bureau revealed that on August 30, 2008 at about 1.15am, the defendant, who was inside a vehicle registration number KK8068 parked behind the Standard Insurance Sdn Bhd office in the vicinity of the Surau (religious hall) near Supersave Gadong, “did corruptly offer to one police officer a gratification of a sum of B$200.00 as an inducement for forbearing to conduct inquiries on her and her male companion.”
No plea was taken from the defendant, and the Magistrate’s Court ordered for her to be released on bail of $10,000 or two local sureties.
The case was fixed again for further mention on January 9, 2010 at 2pm at the Magistrate’s Court.
