HIS Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince yesterday morning, represented Brunei Darussalam in the 9-ball pool single’s event at the 25th SEA Games, currently hosted at Vientiane, Laos.
Present to witness the exciting match were Her Royal Highness Paduka Seri PengiranAnak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah and her parents.
The match was between His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Phopadid Vongsombun of host country Laos. Phopadid Vongsombun won the match.
Accompanying His Royal Highness the Crown Prince was Prince Abdul Qawi. Brunei’s cueist, Teo Chee Soon, also took part in the 9-ball singles yesterday in the pre-quarterfinals match-up against Dennis Orcollo of the Philippines. Teo Chee Soon lost the match.
In the pencak silat event, Brunei Darussalam snatched two more bronze medals yesterday. The prize presentation for the medals will be carried out on December 17.
Awang Amirul bin Ahad had to settle for bronze in the men’s Class A 45kg-50kg semi-finals when he was defeated 0-5 by Okhe Botsavang of Laos
Freddy Ashrul Choo also failed in his attempt to clinch a spot into the finals of the men’s Class G 75kg-80kg when he was beaten 1-4 by Singapore’s Muhamad Shakir bin Juanda in the semi-finals.
To date, Brunei has one gold and three bronze in pencak silat; one silver and one bronze in wushu; and four bronze in karatedo.
