THE Chinese Chamber of Commerce (BSB) Lion Dance troupe did the country proud when they bagged two awards during the Chinese Artistic and Cultural Talent Competition (Lion Dance) held at the College of Chinese Language and Culture in Jinan University, China.
The troupe, led by Mr Liew Yin Chiang, claimed the bronze award and the most creative award.
Welcoming the troupe at the Brunei International Airport were Dr Chan Sui Kiat, the President of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce BSB with Mr Malcolm Lim, Vice President of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce.
According to Dr Chan, during an interview with Borneo Bulletin, ” I am very proud of the Lion Dance Troupe, it’s the first time that we achieved this award and most notable is the creative award.
“The success came from the troupe members, who worked hard in creating new Lion Dance styles while training their moves to achieve perfection.”
Meanwhile, Mr Yeo Kwan Beng, the coach of the Troupe said, “We were surprised when our team was named the recipient of the most creative award. In the competition there were only four special awards and we took one of them.”
On the creative performance, he said, “We think of new styles and moves for our performance. This is the effort from all the members.”
