THE Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Communications, Haji Awang Alaihuddin bin Pehin Orang Kaya Digadong Seri Lela Dato Seri Utama Haji Awang Mohd Taha, who is also the Chairman of the steering committee of Brunei ICT Award (BICTA) congratulated MARS Enterprise for winning a prestigious award which is Brunei’s first in Asia Pacific ICT Alliance (APICTA) Awards 2009 held in Melbourne, Australia from December 14-18, 2009 during a brief courtesy call at the Ministry of Communication, according to a AITI press release.
The Permanent Secretary expressed his hope that more local participants will take part in the future competitions. He also wished more Brunei Darussalam’s products would be developed in the local ICT industry.
MARS Enterprise had won the Merit award as the top scorer in the e-Logistics and Supply Chain Category.
MARS Enterprise had presented diligently their Brulink e-Customs Declaration Package solution and beat seven other big ICT companies in Asia.
It has proven that Brunei has another area of development to explore which is the software development. Contenders in the e-Logistics and Supply Chain Management Category included Australia’s 2ic Software Pty Ltd and Infocomm Software, Thailand’s Dreamsofts Optimisation Ltd, Hongkong’s Kerry Logistics Limited, Pakistan’s Lumensoft Technologies Pvt Limited, Indonesia’s Nirwan Harahap and Malaysia’s Pos Malaysia Berhad.
MARS outperformed them all with grace as it clearly described its solution platform which is the TANGO solution, “one step backwards and two steps forward” and differentiating itself as the key to Asean single window.
MARS Enterprise on its 2′ attendance to the APICTA has recorded two consecutive awards that has brought pride to the country. Last year in Jakarta, Indonesia, MARS won a Special Recognition Award for its excellent product MARS Finance Package.
Aside from MARS, Telekonsult and GISCOM Brunei also participated under the Tools and Infrastructure Category, Chung Hwa Middle School Kuala Belait under the Secondary Category and Maktab Teknik (MTSSR) for Tertiary Category.
A total of 800 participating nominees from 11 countries attended the APICTA awards which included Australia, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Hong Kong, Macau and most Asean countries. These participants were winners of BICTA 2009 competition. AITI as the secretariat of the steering committee for BICTA, has helped to organise and lead the Brunei delegation to participate in this challenging event.
