TEMBURONG district’s holiday programme “Cuti-Cuti Temburong 2009 ” came to a close yesterday, after the month-long annual programme attracted hundreds of domestic and foreign visitors during the school holiday period.
The Temburong District Office, in cooperation with the Mukim and Village Consultative Councils and the Culture and Tourism Body of Temburong, organised the “Cuti-Cuti Temburong”themed “Bedudun tah ke Temburong” (Let’s visit Temburong) in conjunction with the end-of-year school break.
The promotion, which was launched earlier this month, was the third time that the district organised the programme.
The activities lined up in the programme included the Temburong Exploration, tug-of-war competition, Bukit Patoi Challenge, mini flora carnival and local king prawn angling competition.
Small and medium enterprises of Temburong were given the chance to showcase their products to visitors at a bazaar. Cultural performances of the Malay, Iban and Murut communities were also staged by residents.
The district plans to implement programmes in line with the Kenali Negara Kitani (Know Our Country), a Brunei Tourism Development Board campaign to encourage Bruneians to visit places of interest in the Sultanate.
Certificates were presented to project coordinators and committee members of the programme by Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs Hj Mawardi Hj Abdullah, during the closing ceremony at the Utama Bumiputera Complex in Bangar.
