SURE we all enjoy the subtle daydreaming every second of the day but how productive can this imagination be when it is only a movie rerun playing in our mind?
I thought the key is through visioning, be a visionary they say and feel it as though it is already happening. It does lift me up whenever I am feeling down, browsing through the many selections of stunning outfits, running my fingers on its fine fabric, and even secretly smelling the scent of new scarves can make me feel tempted. My wallet says `No money’ every time the temptation got me high and that is the unfortunate part of it.
So I just keep a picture in my head of how fabulous it will make me look with those things on. Great! I do feel fabulous even just thinking about it, but then what?
Wait for it to manifest! Well this is what I’ve learnt; a plan without action is a daydream. So I thought fine just keep on imagining it but what good is a vague scent when it is a year old? No point lingering on such thought when it can never be achieved. Do something about it. When opportunity knocks just grab it, yank it, boil it, eat it and enjoy it!
Take actions, come on I say, push push push, but what did the small voice say when such chances occur, she said “Is it worth it? You can only afford the scarf but not the rest!” Doubt and hesitation starts to engulf my mind, it is unfortunately true but this is what I should say to the naysayer voice “AT LEAST IT IS BETTER THAN NOTHING!” aaah feels great when you can conjure such energy to win the debate. Surely this is not always the case; it is always the voice that wins us over. Sigh*
There are only two answers to every question, only two possibilities with so many ways of solving it and there is only two sides to our brain, because everything is balanced, we have left and right of
every limb, we have day and night etc. Basically it is also the system of binary ’0 or 1′ meaning ‘On or off.
I was fortunate to have attended a course on `self building’, which does changes a lot of my ways of thinking. The speaker Steven Song was a very inspiring person; he said it is our ‘Belief system’, in short ‘BS’, that affects our behavior and actions.
So if we believe in the negativities we are prone to always saying ‘erm.. No thanks’ or ‘I can’t’ or ‘I am not sure’ or the many other excuses we tend to make just to say NO.
Vice versa with the optimist, they are the type who can always be seen walking gliding across the room, they move with such charisma and somehow we feel comfortable around them, they even politely say `Mmmm… that is delicious’ when we offer some ‘pais daging’ that they’ve never tried before, they would gladly eat another plate of our homemade pasta even though they’ve had enough, basically you can easily spot them… they are the ones who always says ‘YES!’
Although when you make the habit of saying yes a lot like Jim Carrey in his latest movie `YESMAN’ you can get in a lot of trouble as well, they can easily be mistaken as a ‘Pushover’.
Self-control! I think the technique we all need to learn is self-control. When you can master this method, everything flows like sinusoidal, the rhythm of life. Make it interesting not like a flat note that no one likes to hear, in the medical field, the flat beat means ‘DEAD’.
Ridiculously funny when we think about it, we have the strong tendency to change others around us especially those closest to us. Why? We ask ourselves all the time, why can’t they change? But the question we should ask ourselves is ‘Why can’t we change ourselves to fit in?’
It is the same thing as trying to control others but not ourselves. How did we come to be such experts in controlling others when we are such failures in self-control? Exactly! When it comes to our own BS we just can’t find the right tools to mend our minds. Funny right?
If we can find it in us to control others, surely we can find it in us to control ourselves to get comfy in any situation. Just believe and take the initial action. Try ‘Why not?’ instead of What if?’
We focus so much on the future or the past but forget to live for the day. We are so ungrateful to the gift we are presented each day, ‘The Present’. We have it every day that we’ve forsaken it and toss it aside not bothering to open it. Why tomorrow, why yesterday but why not NOW. The agendas, questions, dilemmas and other dysfunctions happens today, so deal with it today.
Take action today, Believe in the optimistic YES, focus on the present, visualise the success from it all now, surely we can all glide through life one step at a time. First with the scarf, then with the whole outfit looking incredibly fabulous!
