A couple was caught red-handed by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) with 360.45gms of dried leaves believed to be ganja found inside their car and in their rented house at Kg Subok.
Both suspects are currently in the custody of NCB for further investigation under Section 3 Drug Abuse Act, Chapter 27 which states that whomever found guilty for distributing ‘controlled drugs’ face a maximum of 20 years’ imprisonment and 15 strokes or a minimum of 5 years and 5 strokes of the cane.
According to a NCB press release yesterday, the couple — a permanent resident and female Malaysian citizen — were caught red-handed allegedly trying to peddle marijuana behind a commercial building in Kiulap.
The NCB officers discovered small and medium sized packets of dried leaves, a weighing scale believe to be used for drug dealings as well as utilities used for drug abusers in the couple’s vehicle.
To achieve NCB’s main strategies of reducing demand and supply of drugs, the agency will continue to halt any form of activities on crimes relating to drugs.
NCB appreciates the cooperation from every level of community in the fight against drug abuse (Call hotline 2448877)
