MORE than 150 managers and staff from Standard Chartered Bank’s branches and phone banking centre gathered together at Muara Beach in a team engagement activity aimed at fostering closer relations with each other.
The half-day event saw a variety of fun and engaging activities, which included a mini-obstacle challenge, mind twist puzzle and special awards presentation. The day ended with the ‘best team’ prize presentation and SCB’s staff cleaning up the surrounding areas of Muara Beach.
Present to hand out the prizes and welcome staff at the event was Ms Olivia Yong, General Manager Branch Sales and Service; Mr Andy Ang, General Manager Premium Banking and Ms Tan Lee Ngee, Head of Human Resources at Standard Chartered Bank, a press release said.
Ms Olivia Yong, GM Branch Sales and Service said, “This is a great opportunity for all staff to come together outside of the office to socialise in a healthy environment and engaging activities where we can get to know one another as well as develop the capacity for effective working relationships in a fun way.”
Ms Jessica Chiam, a customer relationship manager based in Kuala Belait said, “I really enjoyed the event especially the games and activities. It was also a great way to meet new colleagues from around the bank and catch up with staff from other branches and departments.” The staff from Standard Chartered’s main branch expressed similar sentiments over the activity.
Standard Chartered Bank encourages all its employees to have a healthy work life balance by taking time out to engage in break out activities within their teams and to spend time with their families through Happy Fridays whereby departments are encouraged not to schedule meetings after 3pm in the afternoon on Fridays and for all staff to go home on time. Each month, departments are also encouraged to take time out on a Friday for team bonding through an activity together such as going for a team walk.
