QUITO, Jan 14 (NNN-PRENSA LATINA) – In his third year as president of Ecuador, Rafael Correa has repeated his determination to radicalise the process of “Citizen Revolution” although he admits there are some obstacles to achieve the goals.
Radicalise means to deepen more the changes designed to serve the people, upgrade social justice and the working class, reports Andes news, adding that Correa is determined to change the power relations which have prevailed in Ecuador for decades.
Among other achievements, he mentioned the political Constitution approved in 2008 that gave “some weapons, but not all”.
He said to complete the institutional change, parliament will have to pass some laws.
He also said that no other government before had faced so many problems like floods, bombings, economic crisis and droughts that forced the authorities to apply electricity rationing, besides a “fierce opposition” made up of some political parties, communication media and power groups.
Correa also concluded he will respect and hear the minorities, however he stressed he will not allow those inclined to impose their agenda by force.
It is hard to identify opponents that have political proposals inside the democratic game, he added. — NNN-PRENSA LATINA
