BUENOS AIRES, Jan 15 (NNN-PRENSA LATINA) – Argentine President Cristina Fernandez and Uruguayan President elect Jose Mujica met yesterday where Mujica personally invited Fernandez to his inauguration ceremony on March 1 in Montevideo.
A presidential source said the two president also had talks aimed at reaffirming the willingness to strengthen mutual links, weakened in the last three years by a conflict over a Finnish paper plant along the Uruguay River, with its waters adjusted in a treaty.
Mujica had unexpectedly arrived in Buenos Aires on Tues Jan 12, accompanied by his wife Lucia Topolansky, after interrupting some holidays, according to press reports.
Argentine media highlighted that the future Uruguayan president was more open to dialogue and that Argentina considers relevant his latest statements in favour of an understanding to overcome the crisis or at least not to worsen it. — NNN-PRENSA LATINA
