The fourth installment of James Hon’s Study in UK Exhibition (S@UK 2010) is set to take place on February 2 at the Songket Ballroom of the Rizqun International Hotel in Gadong.
The exhibition will again be held during the traditional early February dates to coincide with the release of examinations results in Brunei and will be graced by over 20 institutions from across the British Isles and attended by some of the most distinguished universities and colleges.
“The minor changes to the S@UK 2010 will be an earlier starting time of 12pm till 7pm in the evening to cater to prospective students and working professionals and those who are travelling from other districts,” said student consultant, Delon Hon.
“It is a real pleasure to announce our 4th annual Study in UK Exhibition. I would like to take the opportunity to thank the ministry and CREE for the support and guidance for the event,” added the consultant, who is also the General Manager of James Hon Marketing & Management and UK Institutions Representative in Brunei.
“I am also very grateful for the long standing support of our British colleagues. We will again have about 10 experienced directors and senior managers from over 20 institutions attending this S@UK 2010 event. This will mean decisions on applications will be make fairly quickly, easing the applicant’s anxiety and giving students and parents some peace of mind,” explained Hon.
“The mission of our exhibition is to meet the students’ best interest, not just an interesting day out,” he added.
Some of the programmes on offer by the institutions are Doctors of Philosophy (PhD), Research Masters, Taught Masters, Bachelors Degrees, Higher National Diplomas and National Diplomas. James Hon’s staff will also be on hand to advise students on other professional courses such as ACCA, PGCE, etc.
Invitations have also been sent out to government agencies, namely MOE’s Scholarship Department and BDNAC Accreditation Council. James Hon is also in the process of inviting more government agencies to participate in the event. In addition, there will also be seminars and presentations to be held by visiting university staffs and academics.
James Hon’s February 2 event will again feature the full spectrum of institutions from across the UK. Among some of the British institutions are the illustrious University of Exeter, University of Birmingham and University of East Anglia. Other highly acclaimed universities include University of Surrey, University of Essex, University of Hull and Keele University.
Some of the popular British colleges attending the event are Bradford College, Birmingham Metropolitan College (Sutton Coldfield) and Hull College. The exhibition will also be graced by Nottingham University’s Malaysia Campus.
Prospective students who have just received their examination results are advised to bring along their latest result slips as well as their previous results such as A & AS Levels, 0 Levels, Personal Statements, References and IELTS slips.
Students whom are applying for Masters and Doctorate are advised to bring their degree certificates and transcripts as well as their research proposals.
Meanwhile, students keen to pursue Nursing or Physiotherapy will be pleased to know that two of the participating top 50 universities are now able to accept international students.
Keele University has already received Bruneian scholars for their BSc Hons Physiotherapy and would be looking forward to consider more suitable candidates for the inaugural 2009 international intake.
Meanwhile, University of Surrey, ranked top 3 for Nursing in the UK, already has Bruneian nursing students studying with them. Thames Valley University, incorporating Riverside College of Nursing, will also be recruiting international students for their Nursing degrees.
“To commemorate our company’s 18th year anniversary, there will be attractive prizes to be given away to attending students,” said Delon Hon.
“I look forward to providing students with more information on how to win these prizes close to the event.”
