KAMPONG Lepong Baru of Mukim Bokok in the Temburong District recently appointed a new village head, Awang Ambol anak Bakit, a former Agricultural Extension Staff (AES) in the Temburong Agriculture Office, Department ofAgriculture and Agri Food. The appoinment ceremony was held at the Semabat Longhouse.
In attendance to present the appointment certificate was the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Awang Haji Mohd Abdoh bin Dato Seri Setia Haji Abd Salam.
In a welcoming speech delivered by the Temburong District Officer, Awang Metussin bin Orang Kaya Sura Haji Tuba, he said, “The essential characteristic of leadership is to be proactive rather than reactive. Leadership requires the identification of potential problems and solving them with a solid plan.”
The Permanent Secretary also expressed his appreciation to the newly appointed village head and puts his trust in leading the residents of the village in terms of development, progress, harmony and security..
Also present at the ceremony were members of the State Legislative Council, Awang. Haji Sulaiman bin Ahad; the Penghulu of Mukim Bokok, Haji Emran bin Haji Sabtu as well as other village heads, officers from the Ministry of Home Affairs, senior officials and officers from the Temburong District Office. The ceremony ended with a doa selamat read by Imam Awang Moksin bin Mohd Karim from Balai Ibadat Kampong Semabat.
