TEGUCIGALPA, Jan 26 (NNN-PRENSA LATINA) – Bertha Oliva, president of the Honduran Committee for Relatives of Disappeared People (COFADEH) denounced the accelerated deterioration of human rights in Honduras.
“The situation is the same as the one 30 years ago. There are selective executions but they are disguised as victims of organised crime and common criminals,” she said.
Oliva said she had information on the existence of documents by the Armed Forces and the intelligence services in which they ask the mayors to tell them who are members of the resistance against the de facto government.
COFADEH has played a very active role denouncing the violations since June 30. The reports are on murders, arbitrary arrests among other things.
A document issued last week by the Inter American Human Rights Commission condemned the restrictions imposed by the de facto regime and the maltreatment against demonstrators.
