Staff engagement activity for SCB’s employees

STANDARD Chartered Bank’s Recreational Club (SCBRC) recently organised a fun-filled bowling tournament for its employees held at The Empire Hotel & Country Club. The tournament was part of the company’s initiative to gather the staff members in an exciting playoff.

Dubbed with the theme “Super Series 2010 challenge”, all the employees of Standard Chartered Bank were split randomly into four teams, namely Ocean (Blue), Jungle (Green), Granite (Black) and Rain (White). In this challenge, the four assigned teams are to compete with each other throughout the year to gain as much points possible. At the end of the year, the team that collects the highest points will be able to take three hours off work whenever they please.

As for the bowling tournament, the Ocean (Blue) Team emerged as the champion followed by the Jungle Team at second place and Rain Team in third place and Granite in fourth place.

Ms Angela Lew, Head of Legal, Compliance and Assurance who is also the Chairperson of SCBRC said, “It was a fun and exciting competition to organise. With the Super Series 2010 Challenge, we aim to enhance staff engagement and build team spirit among the staff not only at work but during leisure times.”

Standard Chartered Bank Recreation Club (SCBRC) is run by a selected committee of staff who organises extra curricular events such as trips, sports competitions and gatherings. Standard Chartered Bank encourages all its employees to have a healthy work life balance by taking time out to engage in break out activities within their teams to develop the capacity for effective working relationships.
