ADDIS ABABA, Jan 27 (NNN-ANGOP) — Angolan Foreign Minister Assução dos Anjos has arrived in Addis Ababa to attend the 16th ordinary session of the Executive Council of the African Union (AU) to be held Thursday and Friday at the AU headquarters here.
According to a press statement from the External Relations Ministry here Tuesday, the meeting will debate, among other subjects, “Information and Communication Technoloyg (ICT) in Africa: Challanges and Perspectives of Development”.
The aim of the meeting, the statement added, was to sensitize the heads of state and government about the importance of ICT, stress its role in Africa’s social and economic development and to urge African leaders to grant financial and political support for the ICT sector’s development.
The ministers, who are prepairing the agenda for 16th AU summit of heads of state and government scheduled for Jan 31 to Feb 2 here, will also discuss peace and security in Africa, the activities of the AU Peace and Security Council and the election of new members to the AU Peace and Security Council in 2010.
The angoolan delegation includes the Director of the ministry’s Africa and Middle East Department, Nelson Cosme, and other senior officials of the Ministry of External Relations.
