GHANA’S PRESIDENT RESHUFFLES HIS CABINET

ACCRA, Jan 27 (NNN-GNA) — President John Evans Atta Mills of Ghana has reshuffled his Cabinet, according to a statement from the Office of the President, issued by Presidential Spokesman Mahama Ayariga.

The spokesman said in the statement Monday that Martin Amidu had been appointed Minister-designate for the Interior Ministry; John Tia would replace Zita Okai-Koi as Minister-designate for Information, whilst Okai-Koi moves to the new Ministry for Tourism.

Enoch Teye Mensah was named Minister-designate for Employment and Social Welfare, while Stephen Amoanor Kwao moves to the Office of the President as Minister of State and Alban S.K. Bagbin, the Majority Leader, replaces Albert Abongo as Minister-designate for Water Resources, Works and Housing.

Other changes are Juliana Azumah-Mensah as Minister of Women and Children’s Affairs, Akua Sena Dansua as the new Minister for Youth and Sports; Moses Magbenba replacing S.S. Nanyina as Northern Regional Minister-designate; John Gyetuah, the Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, moving to the Office of the President as Minister of State-designate and Mahama Ayariga as Deputy Minister-designate for Trade and Industry.

Inusah Abdulai Fuseini will replace Dr. Kwabena Donkor as Deputy Minister-designate for Energy and Nasamu Asabigi is the Deputy Minister-designate for the Northern Region.

The statement said Cletus Avoka, the former Minister of the Interior, and Abdul-Rashid Pelpuo, former Minister of Youth and Sports, would be re-assigned while Alhaji Iddi Saani would be replaced as Deputy Minister of Water Resources, Works and Housing. — NNN-GNA
