A SUM of $14,900 was presented to the fire victims in Kg Bakut Pengiran Siraja Muda ‘IV yesterday, whose houses were gutted in a fire on Dec 25 last year.
The donation was presented at the house of the Penghulu of Mukim Peramu, Pengarah Awg Hj Ismit bin Pengarah Mukim Hj Naim in the Water Village. The donation came from ,His Majesty’s Government amounting to B$6,600 and $5,000 from the Brunei National Body Welfare Fund through the Department of Community Development, Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, to the heads of the families — Hj Kula bin Hj Majair and Hjh Fadzillah binti Ma’ arof, respectively.
The donation was presented by the Acting Director of Department of Community Development, Dyg Hjh Misnah binti Hj Bolhassan. Earlier, the department also donated one week’s food rations along with blankets, mattresses and pillows to the victims who had lost all their belongings.
Meanwhile, the Managing Director of Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah, Dato Paduka Hj Ali Hashim bin Hj Daud, donated $3,300 on behalf of the Foundation.
The donation is in line with ‘the formation of Yayasan SHHB to help those in dire need such as fire victims.
Present at the function was the Penghulu of Mukim Peramu, village heads as well as officers from Yayasan SHHB and the Community Development Department.
