MEXICO, Jan 29 (NNN-PRENSA LATINA) – The contradiction between wage and high cost of living remains among the key issue being discussed in Mexico as corroborated in parliamentarian statements calling upon the government to analyse minimum wages.
The permanent parliamentary commission asked the Secretariat of Labour and Social Welfare and the National Commission on Minimum Wages (Conasami) to determine if a revision of minimum wages will proceed.
Legislators called insignificant the average 4.85 percent increase in wages, equivalent to some cases to U.S 20 cents daily.
Deputy Victor Castro Cosio demanded that the government comply with the Constitution and the Federal Labour Law to guarantee essential needs for Mexican families.
According to the National Statistics and Geography Institute, over 5.8 million people of those employed were receiving the minimum pay by the end of the third trimester of 2009. — NNN-PRENSA LATINA![]()
