ADDIS ABABA, Jan 30 (NNN-ENA) — Ethiopian Prime Minister Meles Zenawi held discussions here friday with the visiting Indian Minister of State for External Affairs, Shashi Tharoor.
They held fruitful discussions on Ethiopian-Indian relations and other issues of common interest at the Office of the Prime Minister, according a senior government official who attended the meeting.
The two sides reached an understanding on how to bolster mutual co-operation between the two countries on infrastructure development and other sectors.
According to the official, the prime minister and the visiting Indian minister shared similar views on the reforming of the United Nations Security Council.
Meles commended Indian entrepreneurs for investing more than 4.0 billion Birr in Ethiopia and called upon other Indian investors to make use of the favorable investment climate here in Ethiopia.
After the discussion, Tharoor told journalists that India and Ethiopia were enjoying commendable bilateral relations based on mutual benefits.
He said he would attend the 14th Ordinary Session of the African Heads State and Government since India attached due attention to scaling up co-operation with African countries in the years ahead. — NNN-ENA
