CAIRO, Feb 5 (NNN-SUNA) — The General Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid, Hassabu Mohamed Abdul-Rahman, has presented a note to the Arab League’s Council on the programme of the coming visit of Arab League permanent envoys to Darfur in western Sudan and convening of a meeting of the Council of the Arab League in the Darfur region in the middle of this month.
This came at the extraordinary meeting Thursday of the League’s Council at the level of the permanent envoys, with participation of the Deputy Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed bin Hali.
The meeting reviewed the preparations pertinent to visit of the Arab League’s Secretary-General, Amr Moussa, and the League’s Council at the level of ambassadors to Darfur on Feb 13 and 14.
In a press statement isued here Thursday, the permanent envoy of Syria to the Arab League, Yousif Ahmed, said the League’s Council will hold an extraordinary session in Sudan during the Febr 13-14 visit as a message of solidarity with Darfur.
The Deputy Secretary-General said that a number of services and humanitarian projects at three villages in Darfur, established by the Arab League at a cost of eight million USD, would be inaugurated during the visit of the Arab League delegation to Darfur. — NNN-SUNA![]()
